High Holidays with Rowan Chabad 2020

Well the High Holidays will look very different this year across the globe but we are excited to be having multiple offerings for our students to take advantage of. Whether you are quarantined in your dorm, sheltering in place, or comfortable for in person social distant events, we will be there for you to help you celebrate the Holidays. Below please see our options of what we will be offering. Rosh Hashanah THREE ways:

1. In Person Holiday Dinner

Usher in the Jewish New year with a delicious brisket dinner complete with all the holiday traditions together with your Rowan Jewish Family! The dinner will be outdoors, social distance and all Covid guidelines in place. Limited Capacity of 25 students and RSVP IS A MUST by Thursday!

(If the number exceeds 25 we there will always be the To Go option)

Friday, Sept 18 at 6:30 PM at Chabad

2. Shofar by the Pond

Come hear the shofar blasts by the Rowan Pond as we say the traditional Tashlich prayer. We will also be giving out Rosh Hashanah treats to go (apples and honey with some Challah). Social Distance. Will take about 25 minutes.

3. Rosh Hashanah To Go

Celebrate the Jewish New Year from the comfort of your home with a Rosh Hashanah to go package complete with dinner, kiddush, Challah, DIY guides and Rosh Hshanah traditions.

Pick Up at Chabad 4 - 5 PM on Friday Sept. 18

(If you need a delivery please reach out to us directly and we will see if someone can drop it off).

Due to the ever changing situation on the ground we will not be posting our Yom Kippur schedule till after Rosh Hashanah. Thank You for your understanding.

(This will be our new way to RSVP for all of our events. You will also be notified for all future events and can RSVP with one word! For the time being we will also be accepting reservations through the website but we will slowly phase that out)  

Yom Kippur Schedule:

Experience the holiest day on the Jewish calendar with us! We will be holding outdoor, social distance and masked services at the Chabad House (see our full Covid guidelines). Our services are meaningful, personal, express with commentary and explanation throughout the prayer. Many prayers will be in English. 

We will also be having the final shofar blasts, Havdalah ceremony and break fast at the end of the holiday on the Student Center Patio Tent to allow for more space

Kol Nidrei - 6:45 PM (fast begins 6:31) AT CHABAD

Sept 28

Morning Service - 11 AM AT CHABAD

(Yizkor & Torah Reading will begin at 12PM)

Neilah (Closing prayer) 5:30 PM AT CHABAD

Shofar & Break Fast - 7:15 PM (Fast ends at 7:27)
